Not On Guard For Thee
God never asked me
to stand on guard for thee.
And neither should my country
to fight for their decree.
With none of us as equal
as all our countries thought.
And those who would wage war
when others went and fought.
Our parliament of parties,
where little sharing's done.
A requiem for a true Canadian,
were all our parties one.
