Not My Child

Dedicated to Kyle, My Darling Son
A kaleidoscope’s blossoms are not as awesome as my child at every turn; watching his silences – I burn, watching his movements – I yearn. I learn love's wonderment watching him discern. Toddler-boy loves me content with innocence and joy. I shout for time to slow its capture of my boy. Give me endless days and countless ways to watch my miracle grow. Sunshine, moon glow, build him a perfect rainbow so that he may know the wonder of the love I try so hard to show. Loyal, gentle pets give love deep set and when they die I full pay grief's debt. Friends are the prose inspiring my rhymes. Each would be missed by this heart of mine. When parents and siblings expel their final breath, I will mourn them until my own day of death. If my husband should before me die, my soul would cry float adrift and dry. But should my babe at any age pass first in death’s grasp, defeat would set a fatal stage for my heart's final crash.

CayCay, when I read your captivating poem, I had to linger with its poignancy for awhile. To absorb your beautiful thoughts expressed and let the emotional feelings of your write settle, and the feelings evoked by your words settled in my heart as your tender and moving poem made a home there. I especially feel, with my whole being, your last stanza. A heartfelt and gripping write dear friend. Warmest wishes ~Susan

I tried very hard to capture complex and deep emotions with a brevity write that would deliver them completely. For myself, I succeeded and by your words, I rest assured that I succeeded for other maternal hearts, as well. Thank you, for this is a personal write and I thrill knowing it read that way, and also sits that way for you. Thank you for reading my Kyle poems, and mostly for the genuine reactions you have shared. You warm my heart, Susan. PLEASE be sure to list your personal ones for me, I would so enjoy spending time with them. Love ... CayCay

It was a heart felt write - thought of my son. You are so sweet to read and comment as you have. I don't know that anyone has ever read as many of my poems as you. That is probably the greatest compliment and validation of all. Thank you, Joan - CayCay

This was very poignant and intense, the feeling a sibling's passing away is the greatest fear and greatest pain,an alternate reality to the essence of a mother.

Truth can be intense, huh? I sure appreciate the time you've spent with me. Would love your opinion on some of my first posts - they tend to get overlooked. I value and appreciate not only your talent, but your opinions. Thank you, Miraj ... CayCay

The connection between a mother and child is possibly the strongest bond on earth. You have expressed that very intensely.
