NOT LOVE, BUT DESTRUCTION
The bed's hinges squeak
Sending out a troubling echoes
Though the cracks a whisper
“Just a couple having fun.”
The sobs and pants grow louder
Piercing through walls
Like wind slicing through a forest
“Just a couple having fun.”
The child gives up
Her cries mistaken for pleasure
Leaning on time for rescue
That never comes.
Those sobs are not echoes of love
Not laughter, not play
But the quiet suffering
Of a child forced into womanhood.
