Not Like This

night unites silence
sighing here because
it won’t always be like this
your arms enshroud me

for a few minutes delayed
framing you is an advantage
in positive film next to me until
time doesn’t end

the way sentiments paint
tense hugging myself too
tears squeeze through escaping on one leg
hopping and skipping one by one

the night remains my company
even a dearest confidant
intense emotions with you…
while this is a presence

while bodies lay quiet
holding your arms in place
moving could diminish this hour
ruin the whole thing

precious contents volunteering recall
desperately rolling over
spreading my hands over your face
turning to lines sleeping handsome

as the sun has its way
this is all I get because
day break is betrayal and you go…
but not like this
