Not Invited

We are going to Bobby's birthday party they tell me
They are joyful and excited
Bobby's mother comes by and picks them up
They enthusiastically wave "bye" from the car.
It feels like they stabbed me in the heart.

I know how that feels, and still you try to keep a stiff upper lip.
