Not In That Way

It’s the pain of a thousand needles.
It’s like a thorn twisting in my side.
My mouth is dryer than the Sahara.

You gaze at me waiting.
Crystal blue eyes
So clear,
I can see into your soul.

I want to say yes,
But something stops me

My heart just doesn’t flutter,
I don’t dream of you
I don’t yearn for your touch

I want to love you
Believe me
I love you
But not in that way
