Not Doubleday

through all the wars
one question remains
where did baseball come from?

When I was in Cooperstown a few weeks ago the fields we played on were built on Doubleday farms land. They still contend it was invented there but there are many versions all throughout the world so I imagine not.

I have thought in my youth that baseball was American made. In truth England been playing versions of it before Doubleday. No matter where it came from its a sport I enjoy!

OK I admit, you had me stumped here for a wee bit, then I got to pondering and said to myself no wonder, before Doubleday they oft called it Stool Ball, not wonder it was less popular beforehand! :) loved the riddle here!
