Not An Angel
No angel am I, many wrong steps along the way
regrets there are some, a few things I would change
yet for all the woes and various sorrows I emerge
mainly unscathed apart from the odd wound or two
Such is the vacuousness of life as we tread its path
the best we can can hope for is to be remembered
to leave behind poignant memories to help loved ones
maybe even some wisdom imparted by written words
The sum of our lives hang in the balance of the scales
will it tip for up or down when we sit in its stern clasp
or most likely for most it will settle in the middle
for nothing remarkable good or bad have we done
