Not Always Gold
Very long ago, in days of old,
time had no beginning or end,
ancient stories were often told,
by loved ones or a close friend.
Could be true or make believe,
these old rags to riches tales,
not knowing where conceived,
evil creatures to monster whales.
Handed down, year after year,
the stories grew out of the past,
many held heart pounding fear,
some how, some way, they last.
Their origins may never be known,
holding excitement beyond compare,
of dragons to Kings upon their throne,
secrets rare in the stories often shared.
Many start with once upon a time,
told to children young and ever old,
truth based in perception of the mind,
treasures are not always made of gold.
