Not Absent of Mind

Not Absent Of Mind

I’m not absent of mind
Not hateful or kind
Not unspoken or loud
Not meek or mild

I’m not smart of dumb
Not idle or run
 Not weak or strong
Not right or wrong

I’m not speedy or slow
Not stopped or go
Not started or done
Not old or young

 I’m just like you
When the day is through
Tired and beat
Coming home from the street

Ready to sit down
Tired of dealing with clowns
I’m no superman
I’m just a common man

Who appreciates the right
To be at home every night
With my son in my arms
Away from the world full of harm

I’m not absent of mind
But I’m hoping to find
A world that’s at peace
Rid of the hatred beast
