Not a Race

I like to write songs,
I’ve got the beat
In my soul and in my feet.
I’ve got the beat,

I’ve got the beat.

Music puts me in a trance
And makes me want to do a dance.
I want to dance.
I want to dance.
I want to do a dance.

I’m not trying to hide it.
I just want to “sing-song” it.
To “sing-song” it,
To "sing-song" it.
I just want to “sing-song” it.

And I don’t care if in a contest I don’t place 
Because for me writing is not a race.
It's not a race,

I was reading the other day that out of all activities that stimulated the brain, dance came out the highest, the choreographed ones even more so. What a wonderful poem Carole, it makes me want to get up and dance right now, but i guess I'll do that later, sitting in front of the computer and reading your poem instead of working .
