Not a Moment Too Soon
Not a moment too soon
A fireman is
a brave hero, you see
He's always there when
you need him to be.
This happened to me
On one fateful night
We all went to bed,
Thinking all was all right.
After a quick "g'night, mommy"
That I heard her say
And a "goodnight, daddy"
She went on her way.
Up the stairs she went
And then off to her bed.
There wasn't a worry
Not one in my head.
The house quiets down
And I think she's asleep,
For she was real quite,
Not even a peep.
I put my feet up,
Thinking "What a long day"
I'm truly exhausted,
From what all came my way."
My heart stopped when
I heard a blood curdling scream
Coming from her room,
It wasn't a dream
Time slowed right down
Well, that's how it seemed
And when I saw her
I let out a scream.
Covered in blood
From the bottom to top
I though I would faint
I felt I would drop.
What happened next
I cant be quite sure
It all happened so fast
It was all just a blur
The next thing remembered
in the light of the moon
The firemen coming
Not a moment too soon.
They took her from me
And then started their job
And that's when it hit me
And I started to sob.
"She's gonna be fine"
They came up to say
I dropped to my knees
and I started to pray.
I am on my knees
Under the light of the moon
I thank God for them coming,
Not a moment too soon.
