This happened to me On one fateful night We all went to bed, Thinking all was all right. After a quick "g'night, mommy" That I heard her say And a "goodnight, daddy" She went on her way. Up the stairs she went And then off to her bed. There wasn't a worry Not one in my head. The house quiets down And I think she's asleep, For she was real quite, Not even a peep. I put my feet up, Thinking "What a long day" I'm truly exhausted, From what all came my way." My heart stopped when I heard a blood curdling scream Coming from her room, It wasn't a dream Time slowed right down Well, that's how it seemed And when I saw her I let out a scream. Covered in blood From the bottom to top I though I would faint I felt I would drop. What happened next I cant be quite sure It all happened so fast It was all just a blur The next thing remembered in the light of the moon The firemen coming Not a moment too soon. They took her from me And then started their job And that's when it hit me And I started to sob. "She's gonna be fine" They came up to say I dropped to my knees and I started to pray. I am on my knees Under the light of the moon I thank God for them coming, Not a moment too soon. 1/21/2020
