Creeping strands of ivy intensifies the gloom of this once beautiful elegant drawing room A faded dressing screen, a tatty salon chair since my Grand Papa’s died I’m now the heir Yet, when I look deep beyond the peeling walls I can hear melodies from past summer balls My aim’s to bring it back to its former glory so my own family will be part of its history Photograph 3 used Free Verse or Rhyme Contest Contest Sponsor Eve Roper 9/8/19

Life is short but memories are long. My grandmothers both lived to be 96 years old - both of them outlived their husbands by a lot. I wish you the best in the contest! My NY Giants were no match for the Dallas Cowboys today. They lost 37 - 17. Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Beautifully written, sentiment seeps from it. I think you're one of the few who wrote for this image and I think you nailed it, Jan. Good luck with the contest and all else, sweet lady. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

In my case, it was the only image I could see. I couldn't make out what the boys were playing with and though Eve said there wasn't, I swear I see a cat in the photo you did. That's w/ my NEW contacts in plus readers. YI Love ... Ms. Megoo (I think I spelled Magoo, McGoo - all wrong!)

Hi Jan,this is an excellent write, it follows the picture so well. Your words give it heart and life. Through your words, I created such strong visions. Your words take me to the heart of the picture. I hope this piece does well for you, in the contest. It reads like a winner to me. Have a wonderful Monday. Hugs....Mike. XX
