North For the Winter?
We took a vacation way up North in the dead of winter
“You’re going the wrong way”, all would say thinking our minds must have splintered.
It was hard to find a room to rent within the Arctic circus
But one we did find with a hot tub outside to suit our final purpose.
Wearing only a robe and boots of skin with a bottle of wine in hand
To the hot tub we ran in minus degrees disrobing before we jumped in.
We poured our glasses of red cabernet and clinked them together so slight,
As we settled in in the dark of the day waiting for the Aurora Borealis display of light.
Visions of light; red, blue and green, dancing a spectacle we’d never seen
While ice crystals formed on our lashes.
Out on the horizon up through the heavens,
One after another most vibrant of flashes.
For hours we sat in the hot water vat
Staring in utter delight
Never a sight had we seen so beautifully obscene
As the dance of the Northern Lights.
