Norma-Jeane: Duo-Rhyme

When I was only seventeen,
I met my darling Norma Jeane.
And I, still wet behind the ears,
Emboldened by too many beers,
Approached her and forgot my fears,
Became the envy of my peers -
But knew our love would end in tears.
And after many lonesome years,
I saw her on the silver screen -
And dreamed of how it could have been…

Jack, your poem has made me smile today! Don't know if it's true or not, but either way, she was a true beauty and the object of desire for many young men. I agree with Debbie...not sure if she would have been a star today. I don't think it's the men who put pressure on women to be thinner. I think we as women put the pressure on ourselves and each other. Oh well, something to think about...congrats on a wonderful win. Love and Blessings, Rhonda

Jack, you are such a versatile writer and one of my favorite male poets here at Soup. Thanks so much for doing the contest and writing such a well constructed example of the Duo-rhyme about Norma Jean. A well deserved third place! Congratulations.
