Nobody's Child

The scorn of abandonment,
howls of silence
when a room entered,
the school yard clatter
community chatter,
pulpit perniciousness
traduce in speculation.
Housewives with
corrective attitudes
deft in moralistic anomalies,
snarls over the broom
with piercing eyes declaring
“Hands off
there stands the scrum of the womb”.
Yes i am a motherless child
raised in an environment
of inclement
wagging tongues,
haggish gapes
smug righteousness,
born of woman
alas not a mother!

If to you this tale is real then meet another who had no mother and experienced all that is written here. Very well done. TLee

Hi Harry, motherhood is supposed to be an inborn trait, a gene that turns on with birth. This is a sad look at the other side. Excellent poem!! Anne

Definitely a heart wrenching soul reacher, Harry! The last two lines pretty well sum it up...sometimes there is so much cruelty towards other children.:( In a case such as this, they must feel that they won't be reprimanded?? Bah, they only do injury to themselves. Kids don't need that kind of horse crap! But, they will always feel its presence.:( Wishing you the best, Harry! Mikki

you have stated so well the problems of society....The body functions perfectly but the heart and soul are dead. A Mechanical existance at best.
