Nobody Came

Amma, Yesterday the tree died. Many men came and cut it down and laid it on the road. They laid the body on the road. I went and said a few kind words. The tree had always been good to me. In fact it had been good to everyone but nobody came Ma. They took the tree's body away, I was not sure if they will burn it away or bury it. I wished it stayed longer with us. What happens to trees that die Ma? (Amma, Ma are synonymous with mother)

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I was a little apprehensive and thought of it as a raw poem, too intense maybe. But your feedback makes me happy that I posted it.

Dear Sunil, the poignant beauty of your poem takes my breath away. So many emotions course through me all at once as I experience my reaction to reading this deeply moving piece. To me, your aching poem symbolizes man's heartless disregard for Nature and the loss of Nature's witness to humanity's downward spiral. A must fav for sure. Thank you, it is with admiration that I read you! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

This question nags and nags at me too, always has since a child. Humans have lost the mother/child connection with Nature. We are like orphans having lost the appreciation for nurturing and for being nurtured. It's truly heartbreaking. Please continue to create passionate poems - to release emotions, raw and intense, is the very essence of the soul's poetry and where its power of persuasion resides.

Thank you Susan. I am really happy that my poem could move you. I taught that this is too raw a poem, too intense to post it here. But your feedback has made it worthwhile to have it here. I work with projects related to sustainability - so this poem is very close to me. Why is there such a disregard when it comes to nature, is a question that keeps me thinking on sleepless nigjts
