No Utterance of Words
There she stood side by side with the man she knew and loved.
She turned to him and raised her eyes as she embraced his face with velvet gloves.
He turned away knowing well his crime as he pondered it over and over in his mind.
Her smile faded as she detected a trace of the guilt that was written all over his face.
Her heart sank and her knees grew weak as she held his face but did not speak.
His lips parted as if to explain but silence held him as he saw her pain.
Her fingers fell away as she turned to flee and as she faded from sight he fell to his knees.
The love of a lifetime filled with lies and discord ended this day with no utterance of words.
