No time but your time

Always said I would do it one day
When tomorrow came I wanted to quit after one day.
God says to rest on Sunday
Forget the rest of em, it’s just one day
Resting all day, gonna need some sun some day.
Just another day
Oh wait it’s new year’s day
Make some goals like a run day
Wanted to do it but it was Monday
Finally went on a run but it was Thursday
Couldn’t even finish you were Thursday
Losing to your mind everyday
Don’t give up though every day is a new day
You starting thinking you’ll do it next week
But you hate that you feel so weak
Come on do it on the weekend
You can’t let the week end
That’s why you feel so weakened
College football on a Saturday
Watching other people run it’s a fun day
Up past midnight crap it’s sunday
Bro get some sleep it’s a rest day

But you woke up and it was all a bad dream
Forgetting you are in the NFL
While remembering your early days
Never thought you would make it
But knowing you could
Everyone gotta start somewhere no matter what level
Made it up from rock bottom you’re at the next level
The decision is up to you.
Day one or one day?
Patience is needed all the way
If it is worth the wait
Doesn’t matter if you are a little late
Worked so hard to get a contract
So sad to work your whole life to achieve your dream but be contracted
Maybe you made it but at what cost.
NFL plays on sundays
But it is rest day
Choose what you want to for the rest of your days
I know playing is your thing but it isn’t God's way
Somethings are just bigger than football
Doesn’t seem fair but God is just
More important than a business.
Virtue is what matters don’t be worried to stand out
Protest sunday games, you need to stand up
Listen to god’s calling
Make a calling to others
Change starts with one

A compelling free-verse reflection on procrastination, perseverance, ambition, and faith. The repeated “day” language creates a strong, restless rhythm that mirrors the speaker’s cycle of delay and renewed resolve, while the unexpected move into the NFL dream gives the poem a larger moral weight. Its ending is especially forceful: personal discipline becomes a call to conviction, courage, and standing apart for one’s beliefs.
