No Surprise
When I was much younger,
the unexpected was the thing least wanted.
I had an appointment with
love, money, glory.
Let no surprises get in the way!
Now that I’m much older
and life feels fully scripted,
the thing most dreaded is the
sneaking suspicion that
no more surprises would come my way.
