No String Attached

(no) day has passed
night
so long ending
i have not thought of you.

a (string) of hope
to rest upon,
so gentle
and so true.

(attached) by dreams
you held me close
reinforced by bears of blue
and as each day ended,
my thoughts
returned
                         to you.

my cards and gifts have all returned
sitting still at friendships door,
secured by strings
which now begin
                          u n r a v e l i n g
                                             upon
                                                    my floor.

and i the unknown player
         stare
                            in disbelief.

alone i sit in silence,

alone i sit with grief.

                                    Shadow
