No Relief In August
If you think July is bad,
Perhaps you have forgot.
There’s no relief in August.
It’s really just as hot.
Even if you like the heat,
There’s just no celebration.
Unless you care to celebrate,
That most are on vacation.
There’s no relief in August.
You’d think you’re close to fall.
But as you bake the days away,
It’s not that close at all.
Hot does not mean always dry.
Sometimes we’ll get a storm.
But afterwards, the humid air,
Will cause the gnats to swarm.
Counting down the sweltered days,
And hours that we log.
There’s no relief in August.
Those summer days of dog.
