No One Stood Up

no one stood up and said what was right
or pointed out what was wrong
we kept to ourselves, plugging away at our jobs
none of us realizing the real job
is to uplift and help others

we soon became the oppressed, the put upon, the picked on
we wanted desperately to be rescued, to be heard, to be freed
but no one pointed out what was wrong
they kept to themselves
ignoring our plight
and so we suffered
as we had let others suffer before us.

CYA the name of the game from time immemorial... Being played in Russia now, where all are scared to death of Putin... When his end arrives, theirs will too probably...

I believe this is one of these main reasons things are as they are...those who knew things could be different never stood up! Great poem, Caren.
