No One Cheats Death

Everyone dies at the appointed hour No one dies before his time Bus crash kills 34 students and driver Lone gunmen murders 17 in high school No one cheats death No one dies before his time Everyone dies at the appointed hour We cannot part the curtain Nor can we fathom the unfathomable Ineffable His Ways, shrouded in Mystery Vision-less, our tears of Misery Everyone dies at the appointed hour No one dies before his time

I believe it too... Our D.O.D. is foreordained; only the method/circumstance of its execution is unknown ('till it happens). Grim, but true. : gw

I do believe our death is determined well before we arrive, as I have thought I was definitely DEAD only it did not happen. Over and over. Three times at least; I have no idea why I am still around. But I will keep going, and doing my best until the end is "not the end" but the flesh end. Your poem is a great reminder, it is not up to us!

The line between death and life is a fine one, indeed! May you stay on the oxygenated side of it for a long, long time to come, Caren!! :) gw

Interesting one Gershon, It's said that our deaths are already decided, hopefully not too soon. Tom

- You're right, Gershon ... but, a tragedy or murder is human determined ... - No God would allow murder - hugs and happy Easter // Anne-Lise :)

Thank you for the profound comment, Anne-Lise. I can only state how I see this conundrum: G-d sets the date and appoints the hour/the moment. Then somehow it's all carried out by us mortals. So, the tragedy is executed by humans, but the reckoning is G-d's...
