"The Raven" a poem by Edgar Allen Poe

No Nonsense

I read The Raven in its entirety,
I must admit it's kind of creepy.

If some big ol' bird with devil eyes
Came tap tap tapping to my sitting room,
I'd be leave leave leaving for the refuge
Of my mother's house.

Mother's house is a house of safety,
And if that bird dared to follow
It would bow and say "Milady,"
And nevermore forget it's place~
'Cause Mom don't brook no nonsense
From neither man nor beast!

I was reading all the poems that were placed in "Mamma" contest, and I must say, thus one is the only one that I liked, and that's why I am commenting on it. It's very simple, but lovely.

It is Mother's Day here in the UK, so I thought it would be nice to feature mum related poems.. A very interesting and most poetic take on the contest theme.. Congratulations on your placement..

Thank you. It was fun to write, and as a bonus it made my mom laugh.

Dear Chetta, You had me laughing out loud! Your honesty about "The Raven" being creepy is relatable, and the image of leaving for your Mom's is perfectly hilarious. The final line about your Mom's power is brilliant – a true force! Thanks for sharing this lighthearted and witty poem. - Blessings, Daniel
