I choose to stop playing As the weight of the pain Hanging upon my heart Is getting too heavy for The frail body that I carry! I choose to sit, rather, Someplace quiet, maybe, Where there is green grass And cool shadows, Where I can see rainbows and clouds, Where I can hear birds chirping And pretend that I can see fairies dancing! I choose to sit there, And to wait, For when the Gods Would send me my death carriage! Why, only the celestial grace would sooth me Like make up, it would have me all gleaming and glistening Like spiritual mantras, it would have me feeling calm and at peace Like food, it would comfort my needs Like medicine, it would cure my ailments Like magic, it would imbibe me with power Like toys, it would lighten up the child that is in me Like love, it would drown me in its warmth And have me seeking only for it! I choose to stop playing As the requirements of life Are getting way too demanding! Having to pretend that I hurt not Is like making of myself a smiling puppet Plastered over billboards for this false world To approve of!
