No Longer Fairest of All
“Snow White, so pretty.
So fair.”
I chant to myself
As I brush my flowing hair.
I watch myself
In my enchanted mirror.
Always so nice.
Always so sweet.
Always giving all I have.
But never, ever asking for a thing.
That’s little Miss Snow White.
“But not tonight.”
I say to myself
As I tease my hair.
Tonight,
I will be true to myself.
I will say and do
All I’ve ever wanted to do.
I will be me.
And maybe,
Just maybe,
A tad bit mean,
Because as they say,
The fairest of all
Doesn’t have to be fair all the time.
Just fairer than most.
At least that’s what I say.
