No Longer Asking

I asked for honesty .........I got filled with lies I asked for genuine .......I got a guy with a disguise I asked for consideration ........I got deliberately ignored I asked to be prioritized ........I got my ego floored I asked for laughter ........I got eyes full of tears I asked for a good listener ........I got a guy with deaf ears I asked for happiness ........I got my hopes dashed I asked for love ........I got my heart slashed I asked for a gentleman ........I got a player instead I asked for maybe too much ........I got in way over my head So I'm no longer asking ........for actions speak louder than words.

I really liked this. I think it's like a list poem. A cool kind of form that I used with my ESL students once. Also I loved how in the end you were supporting that favorite phrase of mine: Actions speak louder than words.

Expectations are the enemy, especially in a relationship. Granted, there should be things that should ALREADY be there (IE: respect, love, care, for each other, etc). But, some people don't always make it so easy. These are the people we need to do without. May your heart only go up from here. Solid piece!
