No Great Love

NO GREAT LOVE
I'll not pretend you won't be missed at all,
but greater loves I've known--and set aside,
and I've such memories--I can recall--
and hold them dear, just as I do my pride--

and though some nights, I'll cry a bit for you,
I'll never give your leaving second thought--
so don't look back, no matter what you do;
nor think that I am something I am not--

no! never think--I'll die until my end!
nor give a thought--to pain I will not show--
think of me as--an ever loving friend--
someone you liked--a lot--a while ago;

But never think--I could not set you free--
though in my heart--it is the death of me!
