No Fairy Tales

I do
I do
Once upon a time
I did

Crash
Blood
Dismembered parts of us

Burned arteries
Holding
A heart
Still beating
Still bleeding

 the past
Is a blade
Memories cut
Deep
As the knife of regret
Slices what’s left
Of our lives

I do
I do
Once upon a time
Remember you

What was
So different
From

What is
And what now is not.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts on divorce through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
