No Busybodies, No Romance Spanners

Hell’s bells knell if online love I accommodate
On Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
In moments driven by exhilaration to promote
A fad that’s all the rage online depending on which romance book

Tickled my fancy last weekend
When bored with brick and mortar love I thought I could sample
The new romance culture and mend
My revulsion for it and kick a new propulsion system into motion in ample

Time to make a boldness statement
Driven by the will to satisfy my faltering ego
Whose bleak romance testament
Derided and paraded as pathetically shallow by the id and superego

As primitive in its outlook
Too pensive in its approach
Needs a thorough overhaul in the hook and look
To which it clings regardless of what any romance cockroach

Brings to the table
In the wake of new manners
That render romance less stable but more able
To spring a surprise or two if in romance works no busybody throws spanners.
