Nine Eleven Was Proof of This

We are one with each other, so if one hurts, we all hurt.
If one piece fails, we all go down.
Like dominoes.
Temporarily hopeful, but crashing into each other, and falling off the edge, nonetheless.
We are cheerleaders for each other.
We are heroes and heroines.
Rooting for our oneness should supersede the will of one.
We are willing to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good.
Nine-Eleven was proof of that.
Heroes were made in droves that day.
Men and women
Running toward
When others were running away.
We help each other up.
We mourn together.
One, no matter what our belief system.
One, no matter what our religion.
One, no matter what our political party.
One with each other,
One forever and always.
A nation under God.
We are America.
We are one!

Excellent tribute, Caren- and much needed reminder in today's divided political culture. I don't think any of us could forget where we were or what we were doing that day. I remember coming in to work & the whole place was deserted, at an absolute standstill. It felt even eerier to see everyone out in the break-room area watching the news in stunned silence. Very surreal.

I was at school, and we were totally horrified within seconds of finding out, yet, we had to maintain decent normalcy for the sake of four hundred children.

I was in bed and had just clicked on the TV when I saw the first plane hit a tower. instinctively I knew it was a terrorist attack. Thank you for reading me again. Always a pleasure to hear from you. Best to you. / M

I was at school, and I will never forget that day. I will never forget the day Kennedy was shot either or watching my Dad scream when he watched Oswalt murdered live on TV. There are just some things you cannot un-do.

I was in Spain at the time and of course the commentary was in Spanish in the hotel and it wasn't until we walked into the town and saw an English pub with a TV in English and only then did we realize the full horror of what had happened.

I know Tom. I remember where I was. I was walking down the hallway of a gradeschool in Kirksville, Missouri, and the principal stopped me with a white face. She looked shaken, because she was. We ran around making sure the teachers had their TVs off. One argued with me, because she was from the east, even though she was watching it in front of horrified second graders. It is surreal that it ever happened.

You honored yourself, Carrie. All I did was select the ones I loved the most, I actually always love them all, though so it is tough.
