Nighttime Shadows

When shadows of the night engulf me
Closing in from far to near
I tightly close my eyes and flee.

What is it I have to fear?
Hanging on for world to calm
Closing in from far to near

In my mind I speak a Psalm
Breathing slowly, letting go
Hanging on for the world to calm.

Gentler breezes start to blow
Coming back my mind at ease
Breathing slowly, letting go.

Praying someday, if God please
Nighttime will not fill with fear
Coming back, my mind at ease

Night is fading; it is clear
When shadows of the night engulf me
Nighttime will not fill with fear
I tightly close my eyes and flee.

Fear is simply the mind acknowledging it does not know about something, and fear is conquered by finding out what one does not know! At night, when women hear footsteps behind them, they immediately panic and try to outpace those footsteps instead of turning around to assess what the risk may be . . . .Enjoyed, Linda! Aloha!
