Night's Ownership
Strip me into forward motion
- no hang up's, no quirks
no past circumstances
to break concentration
or weigh down my steps
Break neck speed to future roads
- no seat belts from old wrecks
no long bruised esteems
which stand at attention
and stifle my breath
Two turns 'round the world tonight
-no shoes, no socks
no walking at all
We'll fly with our wings
long hidden in silk
Straight dives to the sea of green
-no gear for scuba
no holding our breath
for the water will break us
if we don't just give in
Push me into moving forward
-no stagnancy, no sorrow
no excuses of tomorrow
and somehow, on this day
we break through all our walls
Hold my hand in rhythm
-no fear, no reasons
no lost comprehension
with only discovery
that we own the night.
