Night's Limbo

She lingers in the shadows admiring from the dark
Clouds rolling through night skies she peers in for light
Seeking answers to questions her future within the walls

Tattered rooftop covers mystery of all that lies inside
Gentle tap upon the glass of dusty windows no answer
Quick turn on the door knob yet to her it remains locked

Dim light from lantern held close for a sense of warmth
Gusts of wind draw on a hovering sense of doom
Fog rolls bringing faint sounds from the distance

Should she run away or move closer to the door
Away would take her back to things she knows
Closer brings the unknown to life so she must face it

In the end she will choose to stand outside looking in
Fear has rooted her feet to foggy ground so can not move
To run away no longer an option in night’s limbo she remains
