Nightmare
A waking night can’t touch the pain
Of gentle teardrops in the rain
But as the thing begins to grow
Inside the feelings start to show
And now you’re trembling in your bed
Wondering if the fear will spread
You look to me so fearlessly
With no dread of the darkest dreams
The bed sheets whisper as they move
The noise is chilling and quite unsmooth
And as the floor begins to creak
You are the terror that now must sneak
Alongside me you brush your hair
Now you’re the one who begins to stare
Your look is so strong I finally wake
Your body no longer can shake
I tuck you in and nestle close
You’re safe with me under our cloak
