Nightmare

A best friend once I had
Yet was long ago
Transformed into someone
I no longer know
A brother once I had
How well I knew his face
Seems to me another soul
Now occupies his space
A lover once I had
Twas the center of my life
His heart he pledged to me
Chose another for his wife
A partner once I had
I trusted with my ware
Took all of my material wealth
Then left without a care
A pure world once I had
Its beauty to behold
Now badly scarred and littered
Its surface bare and cold
A nightmare once I had
But with the light of day
All these things imagined
Had somehow gone away.

Reminds me of the old proverb, "Man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upward". Imagination and reality are synced on this one. It is a frame of mind, and the reality of human existence. You have artfully sculpted the depths of the human heart. It is exceedingly wicked; who can know it. Families fracture, soul mates sever their bond, and friends do not often stick as close as a brother.
