Night Thunder

The clouds gave a feeling of doom. I could see the lightning hit the ground. The earth shook with every loud boom. The rain poured down like the sky was weeping. The once dry and cracked ground was now muddy. I knew in my heart this was no night for sleeping. My young heart pounded as the storm drew nearer. I just stood on the porch watching and waiting. Every noise in the dark filled me with terror. Then finally, at dawn, the storm died down. The hard rain was now just a drizzle. I watched the sun come up in my old night gown. Birds came out and began to sing. Their beautiful tunes filled the air. For this radiant morning I thank the King.
