Night Shift

As i work the night shift
i think of mom's safety
my thoughts wander and drift
Lord cover us, blessed be.

As i drove thru' the night
i pondered upon the rain
only droplets, please no frights!
Lord help ease away this pain.

As i sit here doing almost nothing
i browse through all the newspapers
the minutes fly by thus bringing
the long shift filled with butter crackers.

Again my thoughts doth wander
i see Ms. K's face aglowing
my heart yearns never to pander
i hear her voice, shrill in singing.

Then i take a very brief break
have a ciggie', that's just nice!
fill my time, prayers said
then i look, i see some mice!

Till i wait for 9pm
here i seat penning this rhyme
oh! can't wait for dreamer's realm
this night be over, a time and a time.

So i leave from work tonight
my duty's done, my heart takes flight
i cannot wait to see daylight
my night shift's done, to my delight!

how good it is, that God's grants us time spent working ; and how He somehow speeds the minutes as they go by. "...a worker deserves his food," so goes God's Words; so let's all do our best to contribute to the economy of our respective nations. till then, cheers!
