Night Prowler
I am something that stirs in the dark.
I am no dog I cannot bark.
My eyes are aglow as light hits my face.
Moving swiftly I stumble with grace.
I watch as trees move in the strong breeze.
At all the other creatures that are just like me.
But something over there isn't like us.
Some start to go and have a look .
Some others making a fuss.
Its nothing to make us worried its just a brown bag.
With broken bottles inside. With a motoring glossy mag.
Another noise we all look across.
Gently and cautiously I make my way there.
Its bigger than me is it a rabbit..No its a Hare.
It bounds off into the night. Giving some of us a fright.
That makes most of us lose another of our lives.
WE dart in and out of all the parked cars.
Looking for one that has a warm engine.
Finally we all gather under one that we found.
Its name has a familiar sound. Jaguar
We can cluster together to enjoy the heat.
But time moves on we must all bade farewell.
Some will hang around after all they are feral.
The sky is getting brighter its time to go home.
I jump onto the window ledge of a friend.
Hes inside his house he didn't come out to play.
His name is Mouse by the way. I might see him in the day.
So off home I go to get some sleep. But I wont be counting sheep.
Most probably Rats? After all I am a Cat.
