Night Operetta
Creatures of
the night
in song...
welcome me
to sing along;
cricket arias
froggy croaks
plopping waters
hooting owls.
Skeletal trees
spooky limbs
shadows weave as
moonlight beams;
a bulbous moon
o’er horizon
wolves that bay
to its beauty.
Twitterers sleep
‘neath dark sky;
silent paw pads
caressing ground.
Trickling waters
their rhythms cast,
fireflies flickering,
'round a pond.
Squeaky mice
and meowing cats.
All nightlife
sings to sleep
the human heart.
