Night of the Other

Walking down a path
                     which leads us to
a steep ravine
not knowing what to
      expect
Carefully, we balance ourselves
      to avoid falling
      into shadow
Certainly, the daylight
is our friend
But the day is wearing on
  the light grows dim
Before nightfall
    we must reach our
goal
      A way station before
the end
            is what we need
where we can rest
where we can contemplate
  the brief time we have
 the Other is waiting
for us
        Our "doppleganger" is
fully prepared
      for the change
don't lose heart
   our eyes will adjust
to the dark
        before tears fall
we will know what we
    can save
      Hold onto what is
solid
      The ghostly specter
will appear
         But we'll be ready
and as the lights dim
  we blend into
the darkness
    like a raven flying
in the of night

oh I likes this!! reminds me of this cool book I once read about a doppleganger. I just wanted to tell you that I finally read your second book. I hope you got my soupmail a few weeks ago what I though of your first book! I think I liked "continuing the Story" even better!! and it was cool to see you include a pantoum in it.
