Listen to poem:
We hit the fair gate at half-past eight, The sky lit up like candle lit birthday cake. Fairy floss blew from hand to mouth to hair, As the Ferris wheel spun; wild dreams in air. I won a teddy bear, lost the heel of left shoe, Fumbled the ring toss, knock-'em-downs too. Screamed on the ghost train; yelled out loud, Rode the roller coaster to a cheering crowd. We’re spinning past the neon lights, Ducking clowns in sequin tights! They're so spooky when they glare— With painted grins; cotton-candy hair. Spinning teacups swirl, twirl and race. We gasp and giggle, lost in space. Toffee apples glow like moons on sticks, As jugglers dance, doing their tricks. Snow cones glowing, blue and bright, Stain young tongues with frozen delight. Hot dogs sizzle in mustard of yellow and gold, Popcorn spills from buckets too big to hold. We spin the wheel we tempt our fate. Hurling beanbags at a wobbly plate. The crowd surges - nothing's amiss, As the scent of chaos is encased in bliss. As the night builds to a roaring close, The music thunders, smoke billows, and flows. With fireworks screaming into the night, Blooming like stars, setting the sky alight. We laugh, we roar, we chase the light— Lost in the carnival, long after midnight. Hearts on fire, stars spinning all around. Riding our dreams, we're heavenly bound. We laugh, we roar, we chase the light— Lost in the carnival, long after midnight. Hearts on fire, stars spinning all around. Riding our dreams, we're heavenly bound.
