Notes About The Poem

*To those outside of the UK, the NHS a free for all medical and hospital system, that is celebrating it's 70th birthday today, 5th of July, although it struggles as the population gets older, lives longer, and increases. It is yet still the best in the world, due to  life long dedications, from ongoing , nurses and doctors, and not forgetting support staff.

 

Nhs

I ponder at the mirror hanging on my bathroom wall
dreams shatter as I gaze upon an image once so tall.
Yet it is you in there in this life I had to become
with youthful mind to witness the epidermis succumb.
To absorb this reality a portrait of reasons
unlike nature’s call humanity breeze through the seasons.
A flower grows and fully blooms then taken at its best
should this apply to us all it would save our NHS.*

Andrea Dietrich July 6, 2018 at 1:23 PM I really envy you guys having such a system as this. It tortures me that America does not have the same assurance for the elderly. We even have to supplement our Medicare with our own insurance. I don't know how my husband and I will be able to do it. Anyway, I was told that the NHS is going to be making strong changes and they sound scary!! I sure hope your system does not get destroyed. All the world is experiencing such despair with health care. GReat poem.

From what I have heard, the concept behind your system makes it one of the best, and you are rightly proud of the people who created it and the dedicated people who work in it. NHS is a symbol of the balance in competitive capitalism, - built by ordinary shopkeepers, which India still thrives on - and I enjoyed your poem on this vital topic for human beings Shalom, shalom

Roy Pett July 6, 2018 at 5:02 AM Well written Harry, our NHS does seem to be straining like a seventy year old does, but it is the most wonderful creation and we must never give up supporting it or allow any Government to belittle its achievements, happy Seventieth birthday to our NHS. :))
