Newfoundland Highway

driving through the wilds
roads carved through granite and spruce
dusk is approaching...
full concentration needed
"Be on the lookout for moose!"

Oh yes! We saw a moose running across the street in Alaska on a long stretch of road to Seward. They are so fast.

Yes, they certainly are fast. Unlike moose in Alaska, however, moose in Newfoundland are not a native species. They were introduced to the island back in 1904 (2 males and 2 females from New Brunswick) and have thrived here ever since.

Good one. My wife and I will be driving there this coming summer. I will watch out for the moose. Thanks for the warning

You’re welcome. I hope you enjoy your stay in my home province. Btw, bring a sweater or windbreaker. Our summers are cool and windy.
