New Year's Delight
Fireworks explode into a luminous display
Lighting up the night sky with a spectacular heralding,
Come my dear, “Let us ring in the New Year!”
And welcome the event in embracing joyous union,
Toasting prosperity for days following.
And sing with glee, grateful for each other’s company,
Gazing upwards at the lit sky of New Year’s delight,
This captured nocturne to cherish a lifetime lest we remiss,
And harbor painful reminiscence without forgiveness;
Though past reflections are prerequisite to the future’s bequest.
