New Year's Day

One tiny bird Puffed so large his wings won't close Perched in the stick leaf Rhododendron On the only stem still clinging snow Tasting it to wet a tip of beak Just a wee Dock'n doris in sunny frozen Wind

Lovely use of language. the parochialism of 'Dock'n doris' is great and gives a warmth to the poem as a whole. The descriptions (e.g.: 'On the only stem - still clinging snow') are captivating in their exactness, giving a feeling of optimism as well as joy.
