New Year Resolution

And in the path laid out in front of my feet.
I could see though long it had many turns for me to meet.
Parts thin and long where patience would I seek.
Parts spinning round where mistakes I make I would greet.
Parts where no way was there. Needing perhaps a leap of faith or even blind trust I’d bear.
Parts burning in fire where I must dare.

On the other side now aged, battered and worn.
I must not subside to sorrows that I have born.
I must take the way and face the turns.
I must see the light and feel the burns.
I must not give my life to worry and despair.
I must walk alone in the dark and know I’m
there.
Until the light in my eyes decides to kill its flame.
I must walk in life and find the strength to care and remain.
