New Year Change
New Year Change
Kevin Davis 2025
Each year we swear we’ll revise our lives,
Become better humans in all the right ways.
We’ll lose some weight, quit smoking… or shave,
Join a gym we’ll attend for at least three days.
We buy brand-new planners we will never fill,
Sneakers designed to increase our guilt.
We meal-prep salads, heroic and brave—
Then celebrate the effort with pizza and cake.
By mid-January (give or take a week),
Our willpower’s gone, but the couch starts to speak:
“You’re perfect already—why struggle or strive?
Sit down. Relax. Let’s watch Season Five.”
So, this new year, when making resolutions,
Remember that change has no quick solutions.
To change how you live, you must change how you think—
And stop trusting fitness apps… especially me.
